Critics hit back at Nora Danish hits back at critics for looking down on her proposal

"Message distorted how? Did you or did you not make the statement? Simple.
When someone says their statement was"distorted", "misquoted" or "out of context" ... it's highly likely you said it and now just don't want to look stupid. So Rakyat kena tanggung make up korang? F U Nora Danish. Gila ke apa? I don't even like Malay movies / TV series / songs etc. Rosmah Mansor pun tak openly cakap suruh Rakyat tanggung rambut dia. Nora Danish nak kita tanggung make up dia. Podahlah!" - netizen

Critics Slam Nora Danish’s Proposal, Actress Responds to Controversy

In a recent turn of events, popular local actress Nora Danish has found herself at the center of a heated debate. Her suggestion for artistes to receive income tax deductions related to maintaining their appearance has sparked outrage among netizens. The controversy stems from the fact that many local celebrities heavily rely on their looks and personality for public appearances.

Nora Danish’s statement, which was reported by Malay daily Utusan Malaysia, expressed her hope that the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) would consider her proposal. She emphasized that while Malaysians have a responsibility to pay taxes, a small exemption for celebrities like herself could be reasonable. According to Nora, the costs associated with appearances are part of their career and could be counted as occupational expenses.

The context for Nora’s proposal arose after another actress, Rozita Che Wan (popularly known as Che Ta), faced travel restrictions due to unpaid tax arrears. Netizens criticized Nora for making what they perceived as a “demand.”

However, Nora Danish swiftly hit back at her critics. She claimed that her statement had been sensationalized and taken out of context. On her official Instagram account, she wrote, “Regarding the LHDN issue, I still got slammed even when I did nothing wrong. This must be because somebody twisted Nora’s delivery.” She further clarified that there is a difference between relief and waiver, and her intention was to advocate for an increased percentage related to appearance costs.

Nora Danish defended her right to speak on behalf of other celebrities and urged the public to seek more information before passing judgment. She emphasized that she pays her taxes and encouraged everyone else to do the same, regardless of their income level.

While the controversy continues, it’s clear that Nora Danish’s proposal has ignited passionate responses from both supporters and critics. As the debate rages on, the question remains: Should celebrities receive tax breaks for their appearance-related expenses? Only time will tell how this issue unfolds.
